A lesson for the students? Hopefully!
The Ladies’ 1sts complete their Slazenger England Hockey Division One programme with two home matches – the first this Saturday (29 March) against University of Birmingham and the second against Durham University on Saturday week. Both matches start at 12.30pm and as ever your support would be much appreciated by the team if you are not engaged elsewhere.
The team will be looking to complete a testing and ultimately improving season with good performances against the two student teams. A few weeks ago the team lost 3 - 0 to Birmingham before a much improved display the next day against Sutton Coldfield and last October were cruelly beaten 4 – 3 by Durham with a freak goal in the very last second of the game.
Meantime the Men’s 1sts complete their regular season with a visit to Dereham this Saturday and a home game against Cambridge City on Saturday week (2.15pm).
If you intend to support the Men’s 1st team in the play-offs at Cannock HC over the May Bank Holiday weekend (and you will be very welcome) and would like hotel accommodation please contact Robert Stimpson (01728 628243) as soon as possible. The cost is £30 per night per person (including breakfast) plus a £10 single supplement if appropriate.
The Mixed team will be at home this Sunday (12 noon) when they play Dereham in the 3rd round (Last 32) of the national trophy. Needless to say your support would be most welcome. Unlike the game against Ipswich I’ve been assured it will not start ten minutes early!
If you have not already sold your Spring Prize Draw tickets and returned the counterfoils, with money, would you please do so bearing in mind the closing date is Wednesday 9 April. Thank you.
Wanted - helpers please for the Magpies Tournament over the May Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday to Monday, 3 to 5 May). Members, parents, grandparents and other relatives will be very welcome to help for an hour or two in the kitchen and umpires are still needed for Saturday and Monday. If you are able to help please sign the board in the clubhouse or have a word with Kirstin Cumming or Daphne Beckett.
You and your friends are cordially invited to the following event. A list of the Lots can be accessed from the link on the Home Page of the Club’s website.

If you would like to make a bid and cannot attend on the night I would be delighted to receive your bid(s) by e-mail prior to the day! E-mail: MDenham975@aol.com
