Year: 1970
Running Time: 110 mins
Director: Ken loach
Cast: David Bradley, Lynne Perrie, Colin Welland
Ken Loach’s first feature film was one of the defining movies of the 60s. A teenage Yorkshire boy, ignored by his family and bullied at school, escapes the meaningless drift of his life by taming and training a pet falcon, Kes. Loach gets great performances from David Bradley as the boy and Colin Welland as his supportive teacher. His low key direction never lets the story fall into sentimentality.
