RIDER HAGGARD SOCIETY The Rider Haggard Society exists for the enjoyment and promotion of the works of the author Sir Henry Rider Haggard, and members come from all parts of the world.
Rider Haggard was born in Bradenham, but lived much of his life at Ditchingham House, where he both wrote his books and farmed, and owned the now-demolished Kessingland Grange. His most famous works are the heroic adventures "King Solomon's Mines" and "She", both of which have been filmed many times. He was also an active member of the community and St Mary's church.
The Rider Haggard Society has meetings every 12 or 18 months and many of these have been held at Ditchingham and Kessingland. Speakers have included members of the Kipling Society and the Henry Williamson Society. The Society's president is Rider Haggard's great grandson, who lives in Ditchingham. For further information, visit www.riderhaggardsociety.org.uk
