MUTINY! is a major movie project written by Suffolk writer & actor STEWART BEVAN, currently being developed by Emmy Award winning Executive Producer JIM REEVE (Foyle's War, Murder Rooms, Beyond the Sea, Crocodile Dundee etc) and Producer GEORGE PAVLOU (Rawhead Rex, Little Devils, Underworld, Nutcracker etc)
A dramatisation of this stunning new screenplay, directed by JAMES FARRELL, is being performed by THIRD EYE THEATRE at the LATITUDE FESTIVAL this year, alongside the National Theatre, the RSC and the Royal Court.STEWART BEVAN, who lives near Eye in Suffolk, describes MUTINY! at Latitude as a fusion of cinema and theatre - a ‘Movie of the Mind’ - an exciting, dramatic & romantic tale of lust & greed, drunkenness & cruelty, madness & murder - love & redemption.
Producer ANDREW SELWYN-CROME, also an Eye resident, says it's a fantastic opportunity for film fans at LATITUDE to be the first to experience this exciting, epic movie.
The MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY is one of the world's great enduring adventure stories. But few people know what fate befell the wretched mutineers after the mutiny in 1789, and the tragedy of their short, brutal lives on a tiny speck of land, the summit of a gigantic extinct volcano, in the vast empty space that is the great Pacific Ocean. The last surviving mutineer reveals the dark, untold story of Pitcairn Island...
PART ONE – SATURDAY 2.15 pm
The first half of the story deals with the extraordinary journey of HMS Bounty to the paradise island of Tahiti to collect a cargo of breadfruit plants and carry them safely to Jamaica for transplanting - as cheap fodder for slaves on the sugar plantations; the crew’s erotic encounters with the Tahitian women, and the events leading to the infamous mutiny.
PART TWO – SATURDAY 8.35pm
The story’s conclusion tells how, after the Mutiny on the Bounty, the fugitives’ lives were destroyed by sex, greed, prejudice and booze in the Garden of Eden that was Pitcairn Island.
